I would try to take "book reviewing" more seriously

It might appear that I am kind of a person who reads books all the time. But actually no, I read on and off or when I have time. I did do some book reviews when I was 18 then fall off and back on again and again. Recently I also do reviews on Goodreads, you should probably check that out if you are reading this.

One of the things I realize is that book reviewing sometimes really misleading because there are no other types of rating besides rating stars and just reviews from other readers. Books are unique in their own way. There are books that are suitable for some and not others. So in this post, I just want to clarify my reviews as well as my thoughts on reading.
I would give a book (mostly on Goodreads)
5 stars: if this book is excellent for me and I'll definitely read it again
4 stars: if this book is excellent for me but I will not likely read it again
3 stars: if this book is good/ appropriate for me but I will not read it again
2 stars: if this book is average and it is so so, I would not recommend it for my friends but worth the trying
1 star: if this book is not in my interest or passed my limits (there are some books like that), I would not recommend this book and for me, it's not even worth trying
I'm not an expert in books, I only read when
I am in my slump and doesn't want to do anything else
I am at my mental breakdown, I either try to find an answer to my problem or fill a hole in my heart
I have to read - either for work or for school
But something interesting I see is that you should not read the reviews before starting a book. If you do, there are 2 things that might happen.
The book has high recommendations but feels like shit when you read it
The book has bad reviews but you find it helpful
To avoid this struggle, maybe you can find the sample to read it first before deciding to buy the book.
This post is just a reminder for me. That I should take book reviewing more seriously.
