Upgrading your mindset, style and taste for free pt 1 [#thatgirl series]

As a student, you may have become accustomed to a casual and comfortable style. Unless you were born into an old-money family, manners, etiquette, and taste were likely not priorities during your college years.

There is nothing wrong with being casual, but based on my experiences, a person's outward appearance often reflects their inner self. Therefore, a casual living style is more likely to lead to a casual mindset, which can make us comfortable with everything in our lives. This mentioned to...

The cost of being "put together"

The "that girl" type of person you see on Instagram did not accidentally achieve her gorgeous and put-together appearance. Like every achievement in life, it requires effort and the willingness to make it a daily habit. She has likely put in more work into taking care of herself, knowing what she needs to improve about her body, mind, and outlook.

However, we don't want to become like a little baby doll that looks good on the outside but is rotten on the inside. Therefore, the best place to start upgrading yourself is from the inside out. The good news is that this approach is completely free, regardless of whether you are a student or do not have the budget to spend on expensive education. And it's much simpler than you might have thought. Starting from...

Embrace your femininity

Rather than simply contemplating the words "manner" and "etiquette," one way to improve them unconsciously is by embracing your own femininity. You might feel uncomfortable and wonder why you need to do this, especially if you are already a girl or a woman. However, in dealing with the struggles of the world, we often forget about the soft and deep parts of ourselves.

Everyone has their own definition of femininity. For me, femininity is the part of us that strives for beauty in everything, that is quiet, calm, and patient. These qualities are the opposite of what the world is telling us, as everyone is living in a rush. Femininity is also something that God placed in every girl when she was in her mother's womb. It is an integral part of our humanity that we cannot deny.

Femininity can also be expanded to a broader sense, such as a mother's love for her children. But as a student, femininity can mean embracing your youth while being a girl. Some of us may have forgotten this aspect of ourselves, while others may have neglected it altogether.

Absolutely, you can always start to embrace your femininity at any time and reclaim it through your own will, as it is already an instinctual characteristic within us. In another post, we can discuss ways to regain and rediscover the femininity that may have been lost or neglected.

Mindset of Abundance

When we are in high school, we have a limited view of what we will become in college or university. Similarly, when we are in college, we have no idea what more is out there or who we will become after graduation. This limited perspective in different seasons of our lives can put us in a box, making us believe that this is all there is to achieve and be right now. However, I am here to tell you that you can become more than what you currently are at every stage of your life.

"For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away" - Matthew 25:29

The mindset of abundance is essential to prevent us from settling for less, but how can we adopt it? The answer lies in one simple word: investment. To me, investment means sacrificing something in the present with the belief that it will bring greater returns in the future. This can involve giving up your time, and effort, or things that have short-term benefits.

Sometimes, we may be tempted to trade our investments for short-term gains, but once we understand the value of the investment, we can focus on improving every small aspect of our lives. This helps us to remain open to new experiences, which in turn creates an open heart for what's more to come.

Royal living style in a normal life

When we were children, many of us dreamed of being a princess in a castle, waiting for our prince to come. While I understand that not every girl may have had that same dream, most of us had similar fantasies.

That princess must have lived in a royal style, so why not start living like that too?

I know that living a royal lifestyle may seem impractical for some people. However, it does not mean that you have to become a millionaire or a real royal. A royal living style can begin with your everyday tasks but with a little more effort and diligence added to them. That's when your royal living style starts.

It can start with:

  • Organizing your room in a more diligent way.

  • Learning how to keep your room/environment smelling better.

  • Buying flowers for decoration once in a while :)

  • Learning how to do laundry properly and keeping it nice.

  • Trying new lifestyle hobbies such as drinking tea and making coffee.

Just by doing more things with diligence and attention, you will see your life change bit by bit without grand effort.
